Nowadays, too many of us are weak and over-dependent on the comfort of day-to-day life. We live in cozy homes, treat our bodies with delicacies, and don’t really break a sweat in our sheltered lifestyles. While this isn’t a bad thing and necessary if you want a healthy and productive life, there are certain specific benefits to be gained through self-imposed hardships, which can’t be recreated in any other way. Let's start by saying that preparation when it comes to any type of physical, mental, or emotional challenge is always key. This means that testing yourself in the safety of peacetime can help you become stronger and prepared for any eventuality. That’s why people like to push their mental and physical boundaries. This involves undertaking activities to strengthen your body and mind, such as running more miles than normal, training your body to become accustomed to deprivation and weight-bearing, and even increasing stress levels. All of these represent a different form of ‘hardship’ and are designed to prepare you for any sort of hardship that life may throw at you subsequently. Battling ‘the inner-bitch’, is one of the quickest ways to make sure that you’re ready for anything that may come your way. As such, it can make an invaluable difference to the way you think, perceive and act in the event of a real challenge looming on the horizon. One way to understand this better is to dig deeper into the concept of ‘battle your inner-bitch’. This involves using emotional and physical strength to push past the instinct to give up in the face of difficulty, by understanding that even anxiety or fear are in fact a good thing and can be used as a way to build strength to get through the hard times. That’s why the idea of self-imposed hardship can be a great way to cultivate mental resilience and help you become more prepared for life’s struggles
A way to make the battle more personal is to give your inner bitch a name. The name of my inner-bitch is “Claus Schwaab” and i really don’t wanna lose from Claus.
Ways to battle Claus for example:
- Get up earlier then you have to and don’t snooze
- Cold showers
- Do your workouts when it sucks the most
- Endure hunger
- Talk with strangers
- Meditate
- Say no
- Stay calm when Claus wants you to get angry
- Battle addictive habits
- Wear shorts in the winter
- Don’t fab
-
Seek discomfort, battle your inner-bitch and become a Pure Bastard!
